    The 4-H Branch was established in 1953. In 1958, its programs became part of the Schools of Agriculture and Vocational Schools Branch.

    Administrative history

    The 4-H Branch was formed in 1976 when the program area was transferred back to the Ministry of Agriculture. The program area has been in the Department of Recreation, Parks and Wildlife for one year (1975-76) and previously a part of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Recreation. The branch was transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development in 1992.

    The Junior Activities and Youth Training Branch was established in 1941. It became the 4-H Branch in 1953.

    The Agricultural Extension Branch was established in 1959 when the Agricultural Extension Service changed its name. It became the Extension Branch of the Extension and Colleges Division in 1966. It disbanded in 1967.
