Referred to as "permanent files," the case files contain records related to the authority, objectives and a description of the business of a specific fund agency; the source of finances and a brief profile of the administrative framework under which the fund/agency operates; significant accounting policies and statutory reporting requirements of the fund/agency; details of long-term assets and liabilities; details of long-term agreements and contracts; annual audited financial statements of the fund/agency; analysis of the retained earnings account or the fund equity balance; as well as relevant legislation, Treasury Board directives / minutes, orders in Council, or memoranda of agreement among parties involved in the establishment of the fund/agency.

          The series consists of accounting ledgers pertaining to the financial management of the department. The records include cash books, receipt books, trust account ledgers, suspense ledgers, cancelled cheques, statistical ledgers, and expense ledgers pertaining to magistrate payments, liquor licensing, neglected children trust accounts, and other programs managed by the department. The series includes receipt books for licenses issued to private detectives in Alberta, 1954-1965.

          The series consists of records related to the development of accounting policies for the Government of Alberta. The records include correspondence, reports, copies of orders in council, draft and final versions of policies related to accounting entities; financial reporting; asset control (such as cash, investments, accounts receivable, fixed assets for designated funds and agencies); the control of liabilities (such as accounts payable, unmatured debt, pension liabilities and contingencies); budgetary revenues; and budgetary expenditures (such as voted appropriations and statutory appropriations).

          The fonds includes a typed copy of “Katherine Remembers.” It is sorted both by sections of life and by topics and is heavily based on the transcription of Allin’s words during her interviews with Kenna McKinnon.

          The fonds also consists of three audio microcassettes labeled as memories and recordings of Kay and one tape cassette labeled “Kay-Vancouver.” These audio records capture the interviews that Allin conducted with McKinnon. They capture the information used in writing “Katherine Remembers” and also capture sayings and proverbs from Allin.

          The fonds also includes a photograph album from between 1916-1946 and two loose photos from 2003. The photos depict Allin’s family, growing up, travel, and photos of and from friends and sweethearts.

          The series consists of working papers of the Provincial Auditor related to special warrants. The working papers comprise ledger sheets listing the special warrant in warrant number order, the ministry receiving the funding authorized by the special warrant, and the type of account receiving the funds.
