The series consists of records related to safety programs for elevators and fixed conveyances, which can include personnel and construction hoists, manlifts, midways and amusement park rides, as well as passenger towropes, ski lifts, and aerial tramways. The files include correspondence, acts and legislation, minutes of meetings, safety codes and standards, accident investigations, and case files pertaining to liaison activities with various stakeholder organizations, including the Safety Codes Council, the Canadian Standards Association, and inspector advisory committees.

The series also includes photographs of elevators and branch meetings (1906, 1956-1980) as well as files pertaining to the investigations of the Mindbender roller coast accident in June 1986.
