The fonds consists of the records created by both the Civil Service Association and the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees from the inception of the CSA in 1919 to its present day incarnation. The fonds is made up of minutes of meetings, bulletins, labour relations files, negotiations, classification appeals, and affiliations relating to the running of AUPE as a whole and to individual branch operations. The fonds also contains material relating to constitutional matters and by-laws, administration, membership services, committees, publicity and annual conventions of both the CSA and AUPE. The fonds is divided into the Civil Service Association sous-fonds and the following series: labour relations; classification appeals; negotiations; CSA material and; public affairs.

There are also scrapbooks containing clippings related to AUPE activities throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including scrapbooks devoted to the Health Care Employees Union of Alberta, a union that briefly splintered from AUPE in the 1980s before reintegrating back into AUPE. There is also a 1918 copy of the Constitution and Guidelines of the Brotherhood of Dominion Express Employees.

The photographs and negatives included in the scrapbooks depict events such as AUPE training sessions, demonstrations, bargaining and arbitration sessions, staff members, and conventions. There is also a framed portrait of W.T. Aiken, the first president of the Civil Service Association of Alberta, the predecessor organization to AUPE.

The majority of the material was produced when Ronning passed away in Camrose late in 1984, after a lengthy illness. Chester Ronning was a well-known character in Alberta; Although he had spent a great deal of his life in China where he was born to missionary parents, Chester considered Alberta his adopted home. Over the years of his life Ronning was well-known for many roles, that of author, missionary, educator, politician, diplomat and storyteller.

The fonds is composed of textual records from during Coutts’ time in office working as an MLA. The records include letters to and from David Coutts, both in correspondence with citizens and other government employees. Coutts’ agendas and planners are also included, in which he kept track of his daily meetings and responsibilities. All planners prior to 2006 were kept in physical notebooks, while the 2007 planner was solely kept digitally (this donation contains a printout of the digital planner).

There are also large groups of records from the committees that Coutts worked on. These include committees on issues and legislation such as the Taskforce on NAFTA Wind Turbine Manufacturers, Crowsnest Pass Economic Development, the Natural Heritage Act, the VLT/Gaming Room Review Committee, and the Castle River Wildlands Recreational Area, among others.

The fonds consists of audio tapes of interviews with seventeen First Nations elders who were interviewed between May and August of 1996. The interviews were conducted by Rhonda DeLorme of Alberta Aboriginal Affairs. The negatives and photographs depict the elders interviewed and there are labels printed on the backs of the photographs. Some of the elders interviewed include Josephine Crowshoe, Rita Auger, Joe Crowshoe, Ruth Bad Eagle , Tom Crane Bear, Wallace Mountain Horse, and Evelyn Thunder, among others.

In the recordings, the elders speak about their own family histories, traditions and celebrations from their home communities, and values. Several also related stories that had been shared with them and spoke of how resources from the land and animals were used in their communities. Many of the elders also spoke about their experiences while attending residential schools and other impacts that settler society had on their way of life (including world wars, treaties, and industry).

These interviews took place in the Bigstone Cree Reserve, Whitefish Lake First Nation, Loon Lake First Nation, Woodland Cree First Nation, Brocket, Siksika Nation, Dene Tha’ Reserve, Blood Reserve, and Alexis Reserve.

The fonds consists of records documenting the political career of Michael Henry as an Alberta Liberal MLA. The textual records include caucus meeting minutes, convention minutes and plans, budgets and financials, policy and platform information, day planner and constituent meeting planners,

The fonds also contains records giving information on the Alberta Liberal Party (largely from 1985 to 1989) and the Leadership Convention in 1988 and Campaign in 1986. There are also textual records from the 1988 Campaign Manual of the Liberal Party of Canada in Alberta. These records hold minutes, policies, correspondence, and information on other activities.

Some of the the records are related to Michael Henry’s 1993 election campaign as an MLA in the Edmonton-Centre. These records consist of paid and unpaid bills, expenses, deposits, cheques, petty cash, receipts, correspondence, campaign contribution receipts, and candidate election booklets. These records document the beginning of Henry's political career, including costs associated with his campaign and the contributions he received from various donors. Some of these records contain the personal information of donors, including home addresses.

There is also a notebook labeled “Signs Requested,” used by Henry and his team during a campaign, likely created in 1997. This record contains personal notes and lists of people and addresses who requested signs.

The images were created or collected by the Oblates in the course of their administrative work or personal lives, and the records often reflect their secular interests. The breadth of the subject matter is immense and unique and documents many aspects of western and northern Canada and its peoples. Subjects may include Oblates and sisters in the various communities, missions, religious events and activities.

The images show communities and activities and include local landscapes, missions, waterways, fauna, fishing, churches and buildings, indigenous people and families, transportation, hunting, fur trade, schools and students, museums, sports, industries and farming.

The subjects also focus specifically on the various communities the Oblates served in the Grouard region, including: Assumption, Dunvegan, Fort Vermilion, Grouard, and the Lesser Slave Lake and Peace River areas.

The NDP material consists of committee files from the Edmonton NDP Anti-War Committee, the Women's Committee, and the Environment Committee; scrapbooks and documents created by Franklin Foster related to his 1975 NDP campaign for the Bonnyville MLA seat; Alberta New Democrat publications, magazines, and reports; and minutes and administrative files from the Strathcona NDP constituency.
