    Administrative history

    The Central Program Support Division was established in 1987. It was transferred to the new Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development in 1992.

    Scope and content

    The series consists of records of the Alberta Beekeepers Disaster Assistance Program, an initiative implemented in February 1988 to assist beekeepers facing increased production costs. The costs resulted from a ban on the importation of honey bees and queens from the United States after the discovery of the varroa mite in American honeybees. The records include policies and procedures, program criteria, claim files from beekeepers, payment information, and reports and statistics.
