    Biographical history

    Alexis Kienlen was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1976. She holds an International Studies degree from the University of Saskatchewan, a Graduate Diploma from Concordia University, and a certificate in Food Security with a specialization in urban agriculture from Ryerson University.

    From 2001 to 2006, Kienlen was the literary editor for Ricepaper, an Asian-Canadian arts and culture magazine. Beginning in 2007, Kienlen has written for The Grande Prairie Daily Herald Tribune's weekly book column. Kienlen has worked as both an agricultural reporter for “Alberta Farmer,” and as the curator of the Edmonton Asian-Canadian film series at the Metro Cinema. She lives in Edmonton.

    Alexis Kienlen has written two books of poetry: She Dreams in Red, 13, as well as a non-fiction book: Truth, Love, Non-Violence: The Story of Gurcharan Singh Bhatia.

    The fonds consists of material compiled by Alexis Kienlen while she researched and wrote Non-Violence: The Story of Gurcharan Singh Bhatia. Included in the fonds is a copy of the completed book.
