    Biographical history

    Alfred (Alf) Standell was born July 5, 1929 in Edmonton, Alberta; he was likely the son of Peter (Pete) and Lena Standell. In the late 1920s, Pete was the proprietor of Pete's Dollar Taxi in Edmonton. He had previously worked for Motor Taxi, owned by Benjamin A. Standell; Charles Standell also worked for Motor Taxi.

    Alf married Jean Marguerite Fralick (1930-2002). They had four children: Rebecca (Llewellyn), Timothy (1956-2009), Susan (McDonald) and Heidi Anne.

    In 1978, Alf was living in Hay River, Northwest Territories. Alf Standell died in Calgary on August 4, 2004.

    The fonds consists of images of mine rescue workers, the Edmonton Canadian Pacific Railway station, railway workers, miners, trains, haying near Castor, Alberta, men cooking, the Legislature, Pete’s Dollar Taxi’s store front, automobiles (most likely taxis), McCauley School in Edmonton, views of Fort Saskatchewan, Paris Confectionary, automobile races, a funeral service and the badlands.
