          The fonds consists of records created by Mr. Ridge in pursuance of his role as the Provincial Archivist of Alberta, documenting what he thought to be important or mandatory transfers of records to the Archives. Also included in the fonds are the personal papers of Mr. Ridge that, for the majority, were created as a result of his active involvement in the national and international archival community. The fonds consists of two series: Personal papers, and Records of the Provincial Archivist.

          The fonds consist of administrative records of the Comité provincial des communications (ACFA) which studied broadcasting and other communications issues in Alberta, an audio tape with francophone Albertan folk music, news scripts in French from Radio-Canada, photographs of francophone Albertans Eugène Trottier and Maurice Lavallée and a certificate of Frédéric Boudreau, Codex Historicus de Lac La Biche, color photographs and negatives of Pow-Wows at Pigeon Lake and [Maskwacis] Hobbema.

          Also included are Claude Roberto’s theses for her Master and Ph.D. degrees, a manuscript of her book on chronic pain (co-authored), her articles pertaining to archives and to chronic pain, administrative papers of the Edmonton (Alberta) Nerve Pain Association, of the International Council of Archives, and the Bureau of Canadian Archivists (BCA), some material pertaining to the oblates in Alberta and material collected while she collaborated with the Alberta’s French branch of Radio-Canada.

          The series consists of audiovisual records created, re-organized and preserved by ATCO to document the functions of the company and its activities in publicity, advertising, home services, infrastructure development and construction, staff wellness and social activities, continuing education and professional development, business operations and project management. The records depict employees, events, campaigns and projects in numerous towns throughout the province of Alberta.

          The majority of the records are photographs, negatives and slides of staff members and social events or milestones (anniversaries, retirements, awards), power and manufacturing plants, build sites (pipelines and wells), vehicles and equipment, model homes and kitchens, advertisements and promotional displays created by Northwestern Utilities and Canadian Western Natural Gas.

          The series also includes scrapbooks, media clippings, and company history and information books.

          This series consists of records that document the management functions of the Oblates in the course of the work performed by the Provincial Administration throughout Grandin Province. The records consist of administrative and operational correspondence with Oblate administrators at various levels, including Rome and with the various missions and parishes the Oblates served, and also with the Catholic Church and with external organizations. The series also includes correspondence files with the administrators of other provinces, the administrators of various Catholic bodies, with religious organizations of men and women, and with the administration of institutions run by the Oblates, including Indian Residential Schools and the federal government. Administrative records also include those related to Oblate vocational work and clergy formation as well as records pertaining to the establishment of missions, schools, orphanages, hospitals and the operation of chapels and churches in various communities.

          This sub-series consists of administrative records created and acquired by the Provincial of Grandin Province to support dealings with bishops, vicars and communities of religious women, and those administrators of dioceses, archdioceses, vicariates and other bodies. The records in this sub-series consist of correspondence, articles, clippings and historical resources, circulars and memoranda on spiritual and theological issues, business matters and concerns in the communities related to education, finances and individuals.

          The topics of the records vary according to the bodies involved, but specifically, the records deal with some common themes, including administrative concerns and pastoral duties, diocesan and ecclesiastical affairs, archives and museum work in the province, the administration of the missions and work in other provinces, residential schools and the parishes, as well as the day to day administrative work of these bodies and their interactions with the Oblates.
