    Administrative history

    The Curriculum Branch was established in 1945. It was responsible for development of the provincial curriculum, approval of textbooks and audiovisual learning resources, as well as liaison activities with external agencies. It was separated into Curriculum Design Branch and a Curriculum Support Branch between 1987-1990 before being reintegrated. It became as Curriculum Standards in 1994 before disbanding with the Ministry in 1999.

    The position of Supervisor of Schools was established in 1919. It disbanded as part of a departmental reorganization in 1945.

    The series consists of records related to the development of audiovisual educational resources designed to support the teaching of Alberta's primary and secondary school curriculum. The files include committee minutes, correspondence, contracts, evaluations, research files, project files, scripts, photographs, audio recordings, slides, films, videocassettes and other records related to the use of radio and television for educational purposes, the Alberta School Broadcast program, the departmental film library, regional film centres, and liaison with the National Film Board, film companies, and corporations regarding the development and use of audiovisual resources in Alberta's classrooms.
