    Biographical history

    Betty Bawden was born December 22, 1917 in Edmonton, Alberta. She was a member of the Edmonton Commercial Graduates basketball team when she was thirteen. She also worked for Woodward's Department Store.

    She married Bob Bowen in 1944, when he came home from overseas. Betty and Bob had two children, one son and one daughter. Betty volunteered for her daughter's school library but also organized many Commercial Grad reunions. She moved to Oakville, Ontario in about 1998, to be near her daughter.

    Betty Bowen died October 17, 2007.

    The fonds consists of an image of Dr. James Naismith and Percy Page dating from 1929 and a composite image of the Edmonton Commercial Graduates Basketball Team, with team members from 1921 to 1940.

    Betty Bowen allowed photographs to be copied by the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1993.
