    Administrative history

Black Gold Regional Division was formed from the Leduc School District No. 297, the Devon School District No. 4972, and the Strawberry School Division No. 49.

The Leduc School District was originally formed in 1893, the Strawberry School Division in 1941, and the Devon School District in 1950. In 1956, Strawberry School Division No. 49 became the Leduc School Division No. 49. In 1964, the Municipal District of Leduc No. 75 and the Leduc School Division No. 49 amalgamated and became the County of Leduc No. 25. In 1995, Leduc School District No. 297, the County of Leduc No. 25, and the Devon School District No. 4972 merged to form Black Gold Regional Division No. 18

The Division extends from the New Sarepta area to the east, to the Warburg area to the west. It includes the municipalities of Beaumont, Devon, Thorsby, Calmar, and Leduc. The Board of Education consists of seven trustees: one from each of the three rural wards, two from the city of Leduc, one from the Town of Devon and one from the Town of Beaumont. The central office is located in Nisku, east of the Edmonton International Airport. The jurisdiction borders the south boundary of the City of Edmonton.
