        The fonds consists of the complete and detailed records kept by Stanley Spencer relating to both his homestead and his work as a Sub-Foreman for the Department of Public Works. Included in the fonds are: the Dominion Lands Entry Receipt for the homestead; tax receipts for the property from 1931-1935; instructions for activities such as tanning hides and ridding the homestead of pests; proposals for the establishment of a new School District in the area; a Farmer’s Pocket Ledger; and a detailed receipt book listing products both purchased and sold by Spencer on the farm.

        Also present in the fonds are a series of documents detailing the work that Spencer conducted as a Sub- Foreman for the Department of Public Works. Included are Time Certificates, Public Works Labour Pay Lists, and communications detailing the work completed by the small crew of labourers. The documents reveal that many of the labourers were working in order to pay off amounts owing for taxes. Work ranged from the completion of land surveys to the construction of roads and bridges. A set of full colour posters from the Workmen’s Compensation Board (circa dated 1952) included in the fonds.
