The fonds consists of negatives, slides, photographs and films shot by A.C. Lynn and Amy Zelmer including the Alberta Coal Branch, coal transportation, coal mines, the Edmonton Exhibition, the Castle Hotel fire (in Edmonton), a conference in Banff, the North Western Pulp and Power plant in Hinton, Fort McMurray, an archeological dig at Fort George, a painting class, Inuit Child Development, (produced by the International Communications Institute) and a film by Amy Zelmer (and Harold Alston) about Fort Mackay.

The collection includes newsletters, membership lists, minutes, obituaries, remembrance cards, copies of historic photographs, photographs from Coal Branch reunions, and newspaper clippings. The records were created by the Alberta Coal Branch Club and document their club events.

The collection also contains The Cadomin Project, a teaching unit developed by Jim Shaw, Director of the Educational Media Services at the University of Alberta. The teaching unit was created as part of a series of units on small towns across Alberta and used photos, slides, recordings, and other media to teach in elementary and secondary schools.

This unit consists of slides and copies of photographs of subjects in Cadomin in the Alberta Coal Branch, as well as supplemental information, all with a focus on the social history of Cadomin.

There is also a scrapbook that includes clippings related to the Coal Branch and its residents, correspondence with other former Coal Branch residents, membership lists of Coal Branch unions, obituaries of Coal Branch residents, and short biographical sketches of Coal Branch residents.

The fonds consists of oral histories given by people who lived and worked in the Coal Branch from 1912 to 1966. The oral histories were recorded by den Otter during the course of research to complete his thesis for a Master of Arts degree in history at the University of Alberta. Also included are photographs of the Coal Branch area.

The fonds consists of images predominantly from the Cadomin area of hockey players, bands, horses, rivers, the Matheson and Clyburn families, bridges, parades, waterfalls, a mine shaft, trains, blacksmiths, tractors, farm machinery, students, and World War Two soldiers and marching band and Navy Trainees at the Galt Aircraft School.

The fonds consists of images of the Cadomin Colts hockey team (1934-1935) and the Luscar Indians hockey team (1939-1940).

The fonds consists of the records of the Cadomin Coal Company Ltd. and includes: reports from 1921 and 1937; minutes, constitution, bylaws and agreements from 1917 to 1919; and a photograph album including 16 photographs likely from the 1920s of Cadomin, Alberta and the surrounding area, residents, employees and directors, and coal operations in the area, along with 36 photographs from around the 1920s-1940s depicting similar subjects.

The fonds consists of records pertaining to the set up and activities of the Coal Branch Historical Preservation Society including correspondence, minutes, certificates, by-laws, and copies of poems from 1935.

The collection consists of mining agreements between coal mining unions and coal mines in Alberta dating from 1915 to 1961. Coal mines represented in the collection include the Canadian Collieries Limited, Cadomin Coal Co. Ltd., Canmore Coal Company Limited, Mine Workers Central Union of Estevan and District, Crow's Nest Pass Coal Company, Bighorn and Saunders Creek Collieries, Drumheller and Wayne District Coal Companies, Hillcrest Collieries Ltd., Hinton Collieries Limited, International Coal and Coke Company Limited, McGillivary Creek and Coal Company Limited, Lethbridge Collieries Limited, Luscar Collieries Limited, and McLeod River Hard Coal Co. Limited.

The fonds consists of photographs of individuals engaged in skating, hockey, skiing, mountain climbing, and mining in the Cadomin, Legal, Luscar, Edson, and Dinant areas of Alberta dating from the 1920s; and photographs of the family and friends of Edward S. Reid dating from the 1920s.

The fonds consists of photographs and negatives taken in or near Coal Branch, Jasper, Banff, Luscar, Mountain Park, Lovett, and Yellowhead County with some photos taken in Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, and British Columbia.

The photos have a wide breadth of subject material including mining (including mine fires, rescue horses, miners, specific mines, equipment, and infrastructure), sports (including baseball, curling, tennis, soccer, and track), leisure activities (including music, parties, and performances), women, outdoor activities (including picnics, hunting, camping, ice skating, horseback riding, and snow-shoeing), landscapes, and people in a wide age range.

The fonds consists of images, from Canmore, Edson and Cadomin, Alberta, of hunting and hunting camps, a pack train, first aid training, views of Edson, a heated sleigh, the Cadomin baseball team, a mine near Cadomin, and the Red Cross school group.

The collection consists of photographs of Cadomin, Alberta including mining scenes and depictions of floods in 1942 and 1950.

The fonds consists of images of Cadomin, Alberta, including three photographic postcards of the town and coal operations from the mid 1930s and a photograph showing a view of the town from the late 1940s.

The fonds consists of photographs taken by Leslie Corness over the course of his work and travels from 1944 to 1997. Photographs were taken in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Northwest Territories, the US, England, Scotland, and in various countries in continental Europe. Some of the photographs are arranged into a scrapbook. Aviation is a prominent subject of many of the images, particularly those in accession PR2016.0052.

The fonds consists of a scrapbook compiled by Mary Rundle during her service as Private Secretary to Sir Anderson Montague-Barlow for the Royal Commission on the Coal Industry in Alberta dating from 1935.

The scrapbook contains diary entries, postcards, and photographs of Alberta including photographs of the Tofield Coal Mine, Rabbit Hill, MacDonald Hotel in Edmonton, Red Deer Ferry, Henderson’s Mine, Drumheller, Lethbridge, Blairmore, Crow’s Nest Mountain and Lake, Old Man River, Forest Reserve near Thunder Creek, Banff, Kicking Horse Pass, Mount Rundle and Vermilion Lake, Kicking Horse Canyon, Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, Caste Mountain (Saskatchewan), Luscar, Cadomin, Crazeau, Mountain Park, Leyard Junction, Luscar, Edson, Coalspar, the Alberta Legislature Building, Edmonton, as well as photographs of Sir Montague-Barlow, Lady Montague-Barlow, and coal miners in Alberta.

The collection is made up of five photographs donated to the Provincial Archives of Alberta from the collection of the Medicine Hat Museum and Art Gallery. The photographs include one photo of soldiers and nurses in front of St. Stephen’s College, University of Alberta, one of Cadomin Mines, one of construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway bridge in Edmonton, one of construction of the High Level Bridge in Edmonton, and one of the horse “Edgewood Boy” owned by Alex Galbraith and Sons, Edmonton.

The fonds consists of the records of Nicholas Melnyk’s time as a student and manager, and includes notes and diagrams, minutes, reports, articles, research, and correspondence, relating to the coal industry, along with photographs and negatives of the mining operations at Cadomin and Gregg River. It also includes minutes, correspondence, reports, financial records, and diagrams from the Cadomin Sports and Amusement Association and notes, reports, correspondence, log records, and maps from West Canadian Colleries Limited.

The collection consists of four photographs, three of which are team portraits of Coal Branch sports teams, including a portrait of the championship 1932 Cadomin Miners baseball squad (including McKenna), a collage of the 1935-36 Luscar Hockey Club, and a collage of the 1932-33 Cadomin Indians hockey squad. The fourth photo is a portrait of McKenna, “Mr. McMillond,” and an unidentified third man.

Collection consists of copied photographs dating circa (ca.) 1900-1955 that were collected for use in her book, Oh! The Coal Branch. The photographs were borrowed by Toni Ross from various photographers, including Charles Lee, and they depict various people, views, buildings, machinery and accidents in mining towns such as Edson, Luscar, Cadomin and Mountain Park, Alberta. The collection also includes captions for the photographs and a book of ration coupons, likely from the 1940s.

The fonds consists of images from Radway including the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and other buildings, images from along the Coal Branch, including stores, buildings, houses, churches, hotels, train station in Cadomin, Luscar, Mercoal, Coalspur, Leyland, Robb, McLeod River and Bickerdike, extensive documentation of the 100th anniversary of Lac St. Anne pilgrimage including day journal kept by Lewis, images of Edmonton grocery stores, Gainer’s Meat Packing plant, Thorsby, Ken Sutton (a trapper at Calling Lake), the opening of a museum at Alberta Beach, the Alberta Metis Association, the Edmonton Street Performers' Festival, the Edmonton Fringe Festival, and sites around Mearns and Ft. Assiniboine.

The fonds includes a transcript of a letter to William Weir and his sons from Robert MacDonald recalling MacDonald’s life working for the railway on the Coal Branch in the 1940s and 1950s, a photocopy of a map of the area and a second letter from MacDonald with photocopied information about Brule, Alberta.
