    Administrative history

The Alberta Travel Trailer Association was incorporated in September 1966 but changed its name in May 1990 to Camping Clubs of Alberta. The Camping Clubs of Alberta was dissolved in 2000, according to the rules and regulations laid out in the Societies Act in 2000.

The Association was a non-profit organization the purpose of which was to provide opportunities for its members to: enjoy good fellowship and pleasant use of their recreational units at regularly scheduled rendezvous; foster friendships among people with recreational units; set an example of courtesy in campgrounds and on highways; and, represent the interests of members to government agencies and legislative bodies.

Chapters and Member Clubs of the Association were governed by the by-laws of the Association and no Member Club or Chapter could set up rules or by-laws that contravene those approved by the Association. At the highest point of membership in the Association there were over twenty clubs participating, represented by two Chapters - North and South.

The Executive of the Association, i.e. the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, were elected to their positions at the Annual Business Meeting held every year in November as laid out in the Association's by-laws.

    Custodial history

In the interim period between the dissolution of the Association and the donation of the records, the records were being gathered from different members of the Executive and assembled at the home of Kees Winter.

    Scope and content

This includes the bylaws and constitution of the Camping Clubs, membership lists, financial statements, expenses, insurance, reports and minutes from both North and South Chapters of the Clubs, minutes of the Camping Clubs meetings, newsletters, brochures and other promotional material put out by the society.
