        Easter Seals Alberta fonds

        The fonds is mostly comprised of administrative and operational records of Easter Seals Alberta. Photographic and audiovisual records within the fonds capture and depict promotional material, camps, and other events. Some photographic records are captured on CD-ROMs and these photographs contain records with similar themes to those that were printed. The textual records also include newspapers, magazines, and newspaper clippings that were collected by members or employees that were about Easter Seals Alberta.

        These records include records of various events and fundraising campaigns, with many of them being re-occurring events. These include events such as the March of Dimes mail campaign, the A&W/Safeway Charity Float Program, a Car Raffle, and Snowarama, among others. There are also administrative and promotional records of awareness and advocacy campaigns, such as celebrity golf tournaments and mail campaigns.

        The fonds also contain audiovisual and photographic records related to the promotion and documentation of events, including promotional materials and recordings from events, camps, and interviews. These include promos for races and relays (such as the Labatt’s Relay and the 24 Hour Relay), camp advertisements, society PSAs and instructions (on activities like archery and computers), interviews with those supported by and supporting Easter Seals, news broadcasts that included Easter Seals-relevant stories, and informational videos (from products such as Dynavest wheelchair lifts and organizations such as the Canadian Rehabilitation Council for the Disabled).

        The fonds consists of images originally dating 1930 to 1935, at the McLeod River Mining Corporation Limited, and includes images of gold dredging, mining camps, miners, panning for gold, and gold-mining equipment.

        The collection consists of two photograph albums. The first album contains 98 photographs, possibly of a survey trip in northern Alberta, and includes images of nature scenes, men being transported by boat, the men at camp, and the men cutting trees. The second album includes 92 photographs, possibly from about 1914, and one photograph tucked in the back from 1932 of a small girl, Pam; the images in this album include nature scenes, the MacDonald Hotel, Edmonton stores, a detachment of First World War soldiers, Edmonton during a flood, bridges, trains and various unidentified people pursuing leisure activities (such as boating, picnics).

        The fonds consists of a near complete collection of Trollhaugen Camp binders. They were compiled by Astrid Hope, an instructor at the camp. The binders are organized by year and contain information related to the activities that took place at Trollhaugen each summer. The binders contain a variety of teaching materials such as instructional plans, sheet music, craft instructions and templates, language materials, Norwegian folktales, and recipe books.

        There are also administrative records including timetables, membership lists, end of year reports, and camp policies and procedures. Within the binders, there is also a large collection of photographs and negatives that depict Trollhaugen participants and camp activities.

        The audiovisual records consist of two flash drives and ten DVD-R’s containing additional photographs and promotional materials that document TLAC activities from 2007-2010.
