    Administrative history

    In 1891, the Federated Association of Letter Carriers, a Canadian labour union, formed. Branch 14 of the Association was organized circa 1903 in Edmonton.

    In 1966, the Union became the Letter Carriers Union of Canada (LCUC) and the Branch became known as Letter Carriers Union, Local 14. In 1989, the Union joined the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.

    Fifty two thousand members now divide into 210 locals throughout Canada representing regions in Halifax, Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, London, Winnipeg and Vancouver.

    Scope and content

    The fonds consists of records of the former bodies of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and includes minute books, attendance records, and receipt books of the local branch of the Federation Associated of Letter Carriers, Branch 14, 1927 - 1944. The fonds also includes a photograph featuring the members of Branch No. 15 (Calgary) of the Federation Association of Letter Carriers in 1913 and a photograph featuring the letter carriers of the Strathcona Post Office in 1913.
