    Previously part of Lands and Forests, the Public Lands Division became part of the Department of Energy and Natural Resources in 1975 and continued until the Ministry ceased in 1986.

    Administrative history

    Although Land Disposition was a function of the Public Lands Division in 1975-1976, it wasn't until 1976 that the Public Lands Disposition Branch was formed. The Branch was responsible for issuing and administering dispositions on public land for grazing, agricultural, commercial, industrial, residential, recreational, and sand and gravel extraction purposes. The Branch continued within Energy and Natural Resources until the Department ceased in 1986.

    Previously part of Energy and Natural Resources, the Public Lands Dispositions Branch became part of Forestry, Lands and Wildlife in 1986. In 1987, the business functions of the Branch were taken over by the Land Management Branch and the Land Administration Branch.

    The Land Administration Branch was formed in 1987 and continued until the Ministry of Forestry, Lands and Wildlife ceased in 1993.

    The Land Administration Division was formed in 1992. It managed the disposition of publicly owned land. The Division continued within the Department of Environmental Protection until 1999.

    The series relates to county (CTY) records, which are produced as a result of the business dealings between counties and the Alberta Environment and Parks. The records may include, but are not limited to assessment slips and tax notices, payment of taxes; tax recovery; Grazing Lease payments; assignments; amendments; inspection reports; sale of land; and correspondence.
