    Biographical history

    Cyril Alwin Tregillus was born in 1890 in Southampton, England. In 1902, he came to Canada with his family and settled in Calgary. In 1913, he graduated from Guelph Agricultural College and moved to Napanee, Ontario to work as an agricultural inspector.

    In 1914, he joined the military. He served in the military until 1919, when he moved to Guelph. He became a naturalized American citizen in 1937. He later took up residence in Downers Grove, Illinois where he worked as an administrator for Argonne National Laboratories in Chicago. He moved to Florida in 1957.

    He married Muriel Eadie (1892-1984) in Wellington, Ontario in 1915, and together they had three children: Kenneth (1916-2008), Leonard (1921-1989) and Margaret (Simsbury).

    He died in Pinellas, Florida in 1987.

    Scope and content

    The fonds consists of the reminiscences of Cyril Alwin Tregillus written before 1972. The reminiscences, which cover the years 1902-1914, discuss his childhood in Alberta and his career in agriculture.
