    Administrative history

    The Daughters of Germany Club was formed circa (ca.) 1957 in Calgary, Alberta, and made an application to be incorporated under The Societies Act on July 31, 1957. The club was composed of a president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary, and the object of the club was to promote understanding between German immigrants and Canadian citizens, to provided assistance to German immigrants, and to cultivate the German language and culture. The club may also have been a member of the Calgary Local Council of Women.

    Fonds consists of the administrative records of the Daughters of Germany Club and includes, correspondence, bylaws, notices, recipes, and issues of various club newsletters including the German Canadian Club in "Shangri La" newsletter. Fonds also consists of copied records that date from 1957-1972, which includes correspondence, membership lists, and a newspaper clipping.

    Mrs. Helene Selbstaedt deposited these records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1974. Mrs. Selbstaedt was the president of the Daughters of Germany Club.
