    Biographical history

    Born in St. Boniface, Manitoba in 1929, Edward "Ed" "Rocky" Tainton worked for Edmonton Transit for thirty years. He was a member of the Military Collectors Club of Edmonton, the Edmonton Transit Service Pipe Band, and Sherwood Park Navy Sea Cadets, Sherwood Park Legion #277.

    He married Neeta Lucille James (1923-2012) in Edmonton in 1954, and together they had four children: Michele (Sergent), Cindy (McLinton), James, and Darcee. He died in Edmonton in 2021.

    Custodial history

    Ed Tainton donated the material to the Provincial Museum of Alberta.

    Scope and content

    The fonds consists of records related to transit in Edmonton dating from the 1920s to the 1960s including assorted bus tickets and street car tickets, transfers from the Edmonton Street Railway, Edmonton Radial Railway certificate of refund, an Edmonton Public School identification card, an Edmonton Public School Blind Pass, an Edmonton Public School Courtesy Pass, a photograph of the Diamond Jubilee Street Car, a photograph of the interior of a railway car, and a publication Forty Years of Public Service.
