    Administrative history

In 1908, the Edmonton Transit Hotel opened in the Packington area of Edmonton, Alberta at Fort Trail and Norton Street, now 66th Street. The owner, Patrick Dwyer, paid $50,000 for its construction. The Transit Hotel offered alcoholic beverages, forty rooms, hot and cold water, lavatories, and electricity. Dwyer hired James A. Murphy and James Ryan to operate the hotel.

In 1924, Dwyer sold the hotel to Sveinn Swanson for $10,500. Swanson sold the hotel for the same price to Jennie and Frank E. Goode. The Goodes kept the hotel until 1949. Ownership of the hotel changed frequently until 1986, when Bob Ruzycki purchased it. The Transit Hotel continues to operate.
