    Biographical history

    Edna Margaret Pierce was born February 8, 1919 in Rosalind, Alberta, the daughter of Salano and Margaret (Gould) Pierce. Edna taught at Dowling and View Point schools before marrying Gordon Sanders (1917-1993) on July 27, 1940. Edna and Gordon, and their children Margaret (Plain) and Hugh moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1958.

    Edna was actively involved in the United Church of Canada, serving as chairman of the Edmonton Centre Presbytery and president of the Edmonton Presbytery United Church Women. Edna was also on the Board of Governors of St. Stephen's College.

    Edna died August 11, 1982.

    The fonds consists of a manuscript, “Reflections,” by Edna M. Sanders, a compellation of short stories, articles, poems and music, and audio recordings of some of the songs.

    Mary J.,LeMessurier, Minister of Culture, on behalf of Alan C. Nicholls, deposited the records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1985. Mr. Nicholls’ relationship to Edna M. Sanders is unknown.
