              Eveline Francis fonds

              The fonds consists of a photograph album depicting Eveline Francis and her family, including extended family in England. The bulk of the photos were taken in Alberta and include family photos in Edmonton, schools and students in Egremont and Consort, normal school classmates from Camrose Normal School, Indigenous people at the welcoming parade for the Edmonton visit of Governor General Byng in 1922, depictions of people wearing face masks during the Spanish Flu epidemic, celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the Hudson’s Bay Company, and snapshots of friends and residences.

              The album is notable in that all of the photos are identified usually with names, locations, and dates. In addition, there are many photos of the rural communities of Egremont and Consort, including photos of identified students of schools from these communities.

              The fonds consists of reproduction copies of records relating to Leo Cecil Satterfield, including a Canada Registration Board certificate from 1918, a Certificate of Entry for Soldier Grant from 1918, and a Statement of the Poll after Counting the Ballots regarding prohibition from 1923; sixteen slides of the Government House, the Provincial Museum exterior, and a view of the River Valley from the museum grounds; ten photographs of the 1987 Klondike Days parade, including Edmonton Oilers Dave Hunter, Kevin Lowe and Craig Muni, the Edmonton Eskimos, various bands and other float entries; and five photographs and five negatives of the Alberta Wheat Pool grain elevator near Egremont, Alberta.

              The collection consists of 71 images, originally dating from 1914 to 1958, of schools, churches, sports teams, stores, bands, automobiles, ferries, coal mines, bicycles, horses and carriages, weddings, and Ukrainian Associations, all primarily in the Redwater, Alberta area and includes Redwater, Radway, Egremont, Eldorena, Waskatenau, Vinca, Opal and Fedorah, as well as Skaro, Brule, and Drumheller.
