    Biographical history

    Born in London, England, Eileen Paris moved with her family to Canada in 1914. She graduated as a nurse in Toronto and later did post graduate studies in Detroit. The family moved to Calgary in 1930.

    In the 1930s and 1940s, Eileen Paris served the Anglican Church of Canada's Athabasca Diocese. She and her partner traveled throughout Northern Alberta by van, teaching Sunday School to children of the area. In the 1950s, she continued her missionary work and traveled to Yukon communities to teach Sunday School as part of the Sunday School Caravan Mission Workers in the Diocese of Yukon.

    Eileen Paris later moved to Edmonton, Alberta, where she became a parish worker at St. Timothy's and Christchurch. She died in Edmonton in 2001.

    The fonds consists of materials pertaining to Eileen Paris' missionary work with the Athabasca Diocese and includes images of Sunday School Outdoors, the Sunday School Caravan, church buildings at Big Coulee, the environment of Athabasca, a residential school, and First Nations dating from the 1930s and 1940s.
