    Biographical history

    Born in 1914, Evelyn (Evie) Nicholls played for the Red Deer Amazons Hockey Club from circa (ca.) 1928 to ca. 1934. She married businessman Fred T. Jenner (1909-1976) in Sylvan Lake, Alberta in 1938, and together they had four children: Peter (1940-1984), Jack, Mary (Dalon), and Bill.

    She was active in a variety of community voluntary organizations, including the Edmonton Opera Association. She died in Edmonton in 1994.

    The fonds consists of images of the Red Deer Amazons Hockey Club (women’s team), originally dating 1928 to 1934, and the Red Deer Hockey Club, originally dating 1931 to 1932, for whom Fred Jenner played.

    Immediate source of acquisition

    Gary Zeman, on behalf of Mrs. F.T. Jenner, allowed the records to be copied by the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1984. The originals were returned to Gary Zeman.

        Gary Zeman was working on a project about the history of hockey in Alberta and coordinated the copying of a number of hockey-related photographs by the Provincial Archives of Alberta. Mr. Zeman’s book is entitled Alberta On Ice, and is available in the Provincial Archives of Alberta Reference Library, 796.962 Z4 1986.
