    Administrative history

Wainright & Jackson Funeral Home operated in Edmonton from 1902 to 1928 at 10541 - 81 Ave. In 1927, Hainstock & Son purchased the Company and continued operating the funeral home. In 1978, Hainstock & Son incorporated as Hainstock & Son Funeral Chapel. In 1989, Hainstock & Son Funeral Chapel amalgamated with Park Land Funeral Services and Econo Grand Funeral Service.

Harmony Chapel took over the building in the early 1990s and joined the First Memorial Funeral Services network in June 2006.

    Custodial history

The material had passed into the custody of each succeeding owner of the funeral chapel.

    Scope and content

The fonds consists of five volumes of funeral records and ledgers and one cash book, dating from 1903 to 1933. The ledgers include name and age of deceased, place and date of death, date of funeral, minister, physician, place of burial, type of casket, cost, and payment details. The cash book details the accounts of the ambulance service run by Wainright & Jackson, and later Hainstock & Son.
