Biographical history

Fred M. Freschette is a resident of Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Originally from Saskatchewan, he began working for Canadian National Railway at the age of 13 before moving to Alberta in 1948 to work in the oil industry. He then became the owner of Central Valve in Sylvan Lake Services and also owned a welding company and a pipeline ditching company before retiring.

He married Constance "Connie" Freschette (1927-2022).

Scope and content

The collection consists of photographs of Red Deer, Dalemead, Lacombe, and Old Basing in the early decades of the twentieth century. The account book is a farm ledger belonging to Arthur L. Long.

Immediate source of acquisition

Most of the photographs were created by Fleming of Red Deer and were donated to the Provincial Archives of Alberta by Fred Freschette in 1966. The account book belonged to Arthur L. Long of Blackfalds and was donated to the Provincial Archives of Alberta by Fred Freschette in 1966. The provenance of the records prior to that is unknown.
