    Immediate source of acquisition

In 1973 and 1995, Drumheller Regional School Division No. 62 deposited records with the Provincial Archives of Alberta on a permanent loan basis. In 1998, the Provincial Archives of Alberta sought to change the status of the records from permanent loan to gift status. However, the merger of the Drumheller Valley School Division, the County of Wheatland, and the Three Hills School Division placed the records of Drumheller Regional School Division No. 62 under the authority of the newly formed Golden Hills Regional Division No. 15. In 2000, Golden Hills Regional Division No. 15 became Golden Hills Regional Division No. 75.

In 2000, Golden Hills Regional School Division No. 75 approved changing the status of the records from permanent loan to gift. In 2004, Golden Hills Regional Division no. 75 donated further material to the Provincial Archives of Alberta originating from the former school divisions of Drumheller Valley School Division, the County of Wheatland, and the Three Hills School Division. In 1995, Gilbert Berdahl, a longtime resident of the Drumheller region, donated school district records originating from Drumheller Regional School Division No. 62 to the Provincial Archives of Alberta.

In 2001, Gordon Berdahl, Gilbert Berdahl's son, donated material to the Provincial Archives of Alberta.
