Biographical history
Gordon Scott was the son of Thomas Bell and Charlotte (Simpson) Scott. Thomas Bell Scott was originally from Lanark County, Ontario, and moved west in about 1907, first living in Edmonton, Alberta, then moving down to the Lethbridge, Alberta area. By 1911, he had likely returned to Ontario. Thomas married Charlotte (Lottie) Simpson December 16, 1916. Thomas was buried in Scotch Line Cemetery in Lanark County, near to where a Mrs. John Newell (Annie Bell Scott) was buried.
Gordon Scott lived in Perth, Ontario.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of postcards, primarily addressed to a Mrs. John Newell of Christy's Lake, Ontario from Thomas Bell Scott; the images on the postcards are of buildings, bridges and streets in Edmonton, the incline railway in Edmonton, street cars, a bridge in Lethbridge, Lethbridge, farming and image of the Fraser Valley. The fonds also includes a souvenir booklet about the 1908 Edmonton Fire Department and two photographs of the laying of the cornerstone of the Alberta Legislative building.

The images can be located in the A file of the Provincial Archives of Alberta reference prints under the numbers A.4783 through A.4789. The Provincial Archives of Alberta received postcards and a booklet from Mr. Gordon Scott whose subject matter was more suited to other provinces; the Provincial Archives of Alberta sent these records to the Archives of Ontario, the Archives of Manitoba and the Saskatchewan Archives Board.
