    Biographical history

    Timothy Joseph Harrington (1891-1970) was born in Ireland. He emigrated to Canada in 1915. He taught at the New England School at Alcomdale, Alberta. In 1927, he bought a farm at a quarter of Section 36, Township 56, Range 27, West of the 4th Meridian (¼ 36-56-27-W4). In 1932, he left the school and began farming.

    Tim Harrington married Marie Dressler (1901-1965), and they had four children: Betty (Melton) (1932-2022), Lucille (Ellsmore) (1935-1985), Eugene, and Carol (Harwood) (1939-1979). Marie was a member of the Independence Women's Institute, and both Tim and Marie held membership with the Alcomdale Community League.

    The fonds consists of a photograph album of the Harrington family circa 1916 -1917 including images the Alcomdale area, Edmonton, and logging operations.

    In 1993, Janet Boddez donated the material to the Provincial Archives of Alberta. Janet Boddez's relationship with the Harrington family is unknown.
