    Biographical history

    Hilda Espeland (nee Lund) was born in 1895 to Helge and Isabelle Lund who moved from Coal Harbour, North Dakota to a homestead near Alhambra, Alberta in the spring of 1907. Espeland had six sisters, Charlot, Sophie, Olga, Marie, Nina and Christine, and four brothers, Herbert, Alfred, Otto, and Tommy. In 1909 she returned to South Dakota to attend school, and remained there for the rest of her life.

    She married Ingval Espeland (1893-1965) in 1917, and together they had four children: Gladys (1918-1989), Earl (1923-2010), Dorothy (1926-2011) and Muriel (1930-2014). She died in 1990.
