    Administrative history

In the winter of 1914-1915, a log building was constructed to house the Happy Valley Mission, a Methodist Congregation, on the southwest corner of NE19, 73, R10, W6, on land donated by Ernie McClelland. The log church served as a place of worship for Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Protestant congregations in the area.

In 1925, the congregation of Happy Valley Mission joined the United Church of Canada, a union of Methodist, Congregational, and some Presbyterian congregations, and was re-constituted as Hythe United Church. The log church was moved to the new town of Hythe on November 11, 1928. A new church building was constructed and was dedicated on July 13, 1930 however the Sanctuary was not fully completed until the 1940s. A banquet was held on June 25, 1947 to celebrate the burning of the mortgage.

Hythe United Church has ceased holding services and the congregation is served by Beaverlodge United Church. It is part of the Beaverlodge-Wembley-Hythe three-point pastoral charge, located in the Northern Lights Presbytery.
