The fonds consists of the records of George Hoadley pertaining to his activities as Minister of Railways and Telephones (1932-1935), primarily comprised of records he inherited from his predecessor, Vernor Smith, who served in the same portfolio from 1921 to 1932.
The files include correspondence, reports, minutes of meetings, audited financial statements, agreements, subject files, and other records related to liaison activities with various railway companies, the business activities of various railways operated by the Government of Alberta, as well as inquiries from the public.
The railway companies represented include the Alberta and Great Waterways Railway; the Canadian Pacific Railway; Canadian National Railways, the Edmonton, Dunvegan and British Columbia Railway; the Pembina Valley Railway; the Central Canada Railway; the Lacombe and North-Western Railway (previously known as the Lacombe & Blindman Valley Railway Company), and other companies.
