The series consists of records related to the Alberta Pioneers oral history project, an initiative begun by Minister of Economic Affairs A. Russell Patrick in 1956 that was assigned to the Advertising Unit of the Publicity Bureau in April 1957 and continued until approximately 1964. The files include recorded interviews, memorabilia from individuals being interviewed, photographs, as well as correspondence regarding interviews.

The series also includes recordings of a meeting of the Southern Alberta Pioneers and Old Timers Association in 1957 as well as the opening ceremonies of the Fort Macleod Museum in 1959.

The series consists of the records of the Royal Visit Committee, which coordinated the Government of Alberta's activities with respect to the October 1951 visit of Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh. The records include audio-visual recordings such as "The Birds of Winter," the 1976 film regarding the arrival of the NWMP and the signing of Treaty 7 that was produced by the Committee.

The projects were referred to the land reclamation area for approval review and monitoring. The records include correspondence, permits, applications, plans, maps, and related documents such as soil handling plans for proposed pipelines.
