The fonds consists of records created and received by Gordon Taylor in his personal life and during his career as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, cabinet minister, and Member of Parliament. The fonds includes the following series:

• Minister of Highway records, including records received by Taylor from his predecessors Vernor Smith and Duncan MacMillan as Minister of Railways and Telephones that Taylor received upon taking office;

The fonds consists of records reflecting both the public and private lives of the Wards as children, friends, spouses, parents, students, teachers, potters and promoters of heritage. The records include personal photographs, university diplomas and report cards, personal and professional correspondence including letters of reference, household finances, sketches and arts magazines, immunization reports and medical insurance plans, a marriage certificate, obituaries and memorial booklets, and newspaper clippings.

The fonds also includes a significant number of records created by Henry Ward related to both his own and Jean's genealogy and family histories. In particular, these records detail the contributions of Jean's parents A.P. and Mary Hanley to the town of Drumheller, Alberta, and Henry's uncle Samuel A. Dickson's contributions to the Rotary Club of Edmonton and Fort Edmonton Park. Types of records include diaries, birth and marriage certificates, obituaries, family trees, genealogical research and related correspondence, and transcribed oral history interviews.

Lastly, the fonds includes contracts, plans, photographs, magazine articles and other records relating to the design and construction of the Ward home by Jean Wallbridge and Mary Imrie, the first partnership of women architects in Canada.

Fonds consists of various negatives dating ca.1917-ca.1929 that depict people mainly from various Italian communities in Alberta towns such as Blairmore, Ponoka, Calgary, and Bellevue.

The fonds consists of images from the Wayne and Drumheller areas, originally dating from the 1910s through to the 1940s, and includes images of window advertisements and displays, parade floats, buildings (including those for Imperial Oil Limited), sports teams, some with their winning trophies, automobiles, performers and casts, funerals, swimming pools, schools, horses, trains and train stations, and general street scenes.

The collection consists of records that did not fit the mandate of the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives and includes photographs of the Lieutenant Governor of the North-West Territories, Edgar Dewdney, homesteads and farmhouses, aboriginal families and women trainees at the Air Observer School; a Drumheller District Tourist Guide; an issue of “The Roteller,” the official bulletin of the Drumheller Rotary Club and mechanically produced photographic reproductions of various mountain scenes including Banff Springs Hotel.

The fonds consists of a photocopy of a calendar diary kept from 1918 to 1921 by an unknown German immigrant worker.

The fonds consists of photographs, slides, and scrapbooks that document the work of the Sign Section. There are also personal photographic images and auto-biographical narratives that document McPhee's experiences in the Great Depression, World War Two, and his activity as a sky-diving enthusiast. There are also photographs of Alberta locations such as Wayne, Drumheller, Carbon, and Lethbridge in addition to the the Wayne, Rosedale, and Drumheller floods in 1948.

The fonds also contains three video recordings: a video made by Mel McPhee of the 49th Loyal Edmonton Regiment's visit to Ortona, Italy in 1994 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Ortona, "Where the Hell is Wayne, Alberta?" a video made by Mel McPhee of the Wayne Reunion held in 1982, and "Thunder in the Valley," a commercially-made film made for the Atlas Coal Mine Historical Society.

The collection consists of mining agreements between coal mining unions and coal mines in Alberta dating from 1915 to 1961. Coal mines represented in the collection include the Canadian Collieries Limited, Cadomin Coal Co. Ltd., Canmore Coal Company Limited, Mine Workers Central Union of Estevan and District, Crow's Nest Pass Coal Company, Bighorn and Saunders Creek Collieries, Drumheller and Wayne District Coal Companies, Hillcrest Collieries Ltd., Hinton Collieries Limited, International Coal and Coke Company Limited, McGillivary Creek and Coal Company Limited, Lethbridge Collieries Limited, Luscar Collieries Limited, and McLeod River Hard Coal Co. The fonds consists of images of scenes in Alberta acquired by Ian Paterson including Big Island on the North Saskatchewan in 1926, Athabasca Landing Ferry in 1926, the Peace River Highway in 1931, a ferry on the North Saskatchewan River at Strawberry Creek in 1931, the Town of Athabasca in 1932, the Ghost River Dam in 1938, and the Calgary-Edmonton Highway near Bowden in 1938.

The fonds also contains copies of photographic postcards acquired by Ian Paterson dating from the early part of the 20th century. The postcards feature images of Alberta including the Red Deer River Crossing of the Canadian National Railways (CNR) at Drumheller, the Hanna CNR station, the Athabasca River Bridge, the Beaver Bridge at Bonnyville, "Big Eddy", "Steveville", the CNR Station at Alliance, the St. Albert Hotel, Saunders Creek, a pack train at Edson, a bridge at Wabamun, the CNR depot at Jasper, the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) at Lethbridge, the Athabasca River bridge, the Brazeau Collieries at Nordegg, and the Town of Wayne.

The collection consists of photographs that depict various sites, people, and community events in a quadrant of Alberta to the southeast of Red Deer that is bordered by the communities of Three Hills, Drumheller, and Youngstown. Most of the photos focus on Youngstown and surrounding villages. The photos depict baseball games, picnics, the interior of a Drumheller coal mine, a group portrait of recent army recruits from Youngstown in 1916, unidentified people and farm sites, and various businesses/buildings in the area.

The fonds consists of images by William McLennan depicting various sites around Alberta, including Edmonton, Drumheller, Calgary, Jasper, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Fort McMurray, various provincial parks, several heritage sites, churches, and more. The slides also contain images of community events such as Edmonton’s Heritage Fest, chuckwagon races, etc.

There are also slides of McLennan family members and events. Furthermore, there is a relatively comprehensive collection of close-up images of various species of butterflies and other insects from across Alberta. Lastly, there are title card slides that McLennan would have used to create slide shows from his work.

The fonds consists of minutes (1925-1968); Visitation Committee reports (1964-1965); Camp Keiver Society records (1967-1971); and historical data (1949).

The fonds consists of photographs created by Hudgeon as part of his professional work and as a hobbyist. There are three distinct types of photos: portraits (weddings, graduations, group portraits, etc.), news photos, and scenic shots.

The portraits make up the bulk of the photos and the selected portraits all depict identified subjects, with a few exceptions. In addition to the types of portraits mentioned above (namely weddings and graduations), there are also formal portraits of Scout groups, school classes, Rotary Club events, and other social gatherings in Drumheller and Delia.

The news photos depict specific events such as parades or the aftermath of news-worthy events such as accidents or fires. Many of these photos have newspaper copy attached to the back, thus providing detailed information about the images.

The scenic shots depict the built environment of Drumheller and Delia with some landscape shots present.

The textual material consists of several daily diaries kept by Blanche Chambers of Morrin, AB. Chambers was a family friend of the Hudgeons and gave these diaries to Earle at some point. There is no further information about Chambers or her relationship with the Hudgeons, but the diaries contain an immense amount of information.

The diaries have daily entries, with each journal accounting for one year. The 1950s are particularly well-represented with some years in the 1960s-1980s present, as well. The diary entries provide information about the weather, daily activities, special events, and domestic life. There are also inserts such as pamphlets, extra pages for diary entries, letters, and drawings. Furthermore, some diaries contain hand-drawn quilt designs.

The fonds consists of slides depicting land surveyors and engineers; work camps and sites; transportation through rugged territory (including trucks, heavy duty machinery, and boats); leisure activities undertaken by the surveyors (such as fishing); and work activities such as digging and actual surveying. The slides were taken in several Albertan locations, including Big Stone Creek, Edson Trail, Smoky River, Rimby, Drayton Valley, Pembina, Peace River, Robb, Drumheller, and Anzac.

The fonds consists of material created by various members of the Bennett and O’Neill families including photographs, negatives, personal correspondence, licenses, certificates, and other textual documents related to life around Drumheller in the early to mid-1900s.

The Bennett family photos and documents contain information about Kathleen, Gordon, their children, his parents Frederick and Victoria (Emerton) Bennett, his brother Howard, his sister Louise, and their respective families. The O'Neill family photos and documents contain information about Kathleen, her sisters, and their parents.

The fonds consists of notebooks in which Splinter recorded the progress of the projects he was working on; collected separate materials such as letters and plans; and noted dates, locations, and temperatures. The diaries are extremely detailed and effectively document the planning and building processes used by Public Works for various sites around Alberta, including Drumheller, Boyle, Stony Plain, Edmonton, Bowden, Thorsby, and others. There are also some sites in the Northwest Territories. Building projects include federal sites such as RCMP buildings and community projects such as gyms and sports fields.

An audiocassette accompanies the seventh volume of the notebooks and consists of Splinter elaborating on the projects documented in that notebook.

The fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, reports, financial records, and other records related to the administration and functions of the Drumheller Coal Operators Association. Also included are records related to the Coal Operators Association of Western Canada, the Alberta Domestic Coal Operators Association, the Domestic Coal Operators Association of Western Canada, and the Western Canada Bituminous Coal Operators Association.

The series consists of the administrative and operational records of the Alberta Government Employment Service and its predecessor, the Alberta Government Employment Bureau, pertaining to its work with the federal Employment Service of Canada to manage labour supply and demand in the province.

The administrative records include personnel files and other staffing records; agreements with the federal government; orders in council; expenditures, budgets, vouchers, placement costs, and other financial management records; office accommodation expenses; transportation; office supplies; mailing lists; and other related records.

The operational records include liaison files with the federal government, stakeholder organizations and local employment offices in Calgary and Lethbridge; files related to immigration and deportation of workers; applications for work and for workers; and employment program files related to ex-servicemen including those with disabilities, farm labour, youth employment and training, highways, forestry, and skilled workers during World War II. It also includes a variety of program-related reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly statistical reports regarding employment conditions in communities as well as summaries of applicants, vacancies and placements for men and women in Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Drumheller.

The series also includes records related to unemployment relief activities undertaken by the Service, including operations of camps, including bush and railway camps, in Calgary, Edmonton, Drumheller and Lethbridge as well as payrolls, grants and other files related to relief initiatives in cities as well as rural communities.
