Pathé produced both 9.5mm negative stock for amateur cinematography and copies of films and short subjects on 9.5mm stock for home viewing. These films are an example of the latter and include travelogues, Mickey Mouse and Popeye shorts, and short comedies.

These include minutes, correspondence, and reports created by the Provincial Executive Committee, the Central Executive Committee, and several committees such as the Edmonton committee and committees for specific electoral wards within Edmonton. There are also briefings and reports prepared for both provincial and federal party conventions.

In addition to Party administration, there is a significant amount of material related to movements and organizations that shared commonalities with the Communist Party, including peace/disarmament organizations, anti-racist organizations, labour unions, and progressive women’s organizations. Many of these records were collected or created by Naomi Rankin, the current leader of the Communist Party – Alberta.

Last, there is a large collection of magazines, journals, and books related to Communism and leftist movements in Canada and abroad.

The fonds also includes textual records, specifically production files and information about and photographs of Jim Tustian. The film and video material in PR2012.0888 consists of promotional material for Northwest Industries, Paragon Panel Systems, the Canadian Hereford Organization (entitled Beef for the World), and Belvedere Developments; commercials for Calgary-based automotive business National Transmission; concert footage of singer Bobby Curtola; a promotional video for Quickdial, a hotel service designed to help raise funds for arts in Alberta; an ergonomic video entitled Top to Toe – Workstation Workout; and political material focusing on former Speaker of the Legislature Ken Kowalski (Kowalski Tributes and God’s Country), the presentation of a new mace by Lieutenant Governor Bud Olsen, and a Social Credit film featuring former premier Harry Strom (Alberta Together!). The material consists of complete masters when available or the original camera tapes when edited masters were not provided.

The records in PR2015.0782 consist of production files for several of the productions that are represented in the audiovisual records in this donation. The files include shooting scripts, correspondence, and budgets.

The audiovisual records are masters of film, television, and radio productions produced by Tustian Film Productions including industrial films for Northwest Industries, Paragon Panel, and Initial Security; municipal and provincial government productions for agencies including the City of Lethbridge, Alberta Agriculture, and Travel Alberta; commercials for companies such as Kodak, Alberta Treasury Branch, car dealerships, and restaurants; and documentary projects on the Edmonton Polar Ski Club and former Speaker of the Assembly Ken Kowalski.

The photographs and negatives were taken by Jim Tustian and include imagery of events and sites around the province. The subject matter is similar to the related fonds Thunderbird Photographers but it is unclear if these photographs were created under that company or as part of Tustian Film Productions, considering both were at one time owned and operated by Jim Tustian.

PR1985.0383 holds maps from between 1779 and 1912, with maps of the world, North America, and Edson, Alberta.

The other map is of what would become Alberta, and Assiniboia, Athabasca, and Saskatchewan. On the reverse there is a map of Toronto and a legend for the Alberta, Assiniboia, Athabasca, and Saskatchewan map. This map represents the area in 1902, and was copied from an Atlas.

The fonds also includes poetry and writings by Malcolm Geddes, vital statistic records, family histories and genealogical information written and collected by members of the Geddes Family dating from the 1910s to the 1990s, and an audiocassette capturing an oral history interview with Alvin Geddes completed for the Petroleum Industry Oral History Project at the Glenbow Archives.

The textual material provides a wealth of detail related to the management of the farm and data specific to the weather station. The fourth map of North America is glued to a cardboard backboard and is not dated, but was likely first created in the year 1770. It includes mythological descriptions of areas not fully explored, including Hyperborea in the Arctic Circle. This last map also includes parts of northern Europe and Russia.

The maps come from a variety of original sources and served a wide range of original purposes. Most were created by the federal National Topographic Survey, many more are general topographical maps, and some were produced for the National Atlas of Canada, among other purposes.

The collection contains a variety of materials, purchased from Academic Books in five purchases over a decade. The collection includes an unpublished manuscript (1908) written by Alexander MacKenzie on the Peace River District covering the years 1793-1908. The next is a typed letter from R.B. Bennet to John Stocks (1905), the then-Deputy Commissioner of Public Works of the North-West Territories (which included present-day Alberta and Saskatchewan at the time). This letter concerned the rising waters that were beginning to circumvent the Elbow River Bridge in Calgary.

Other records include North-West Territories Gazettes (Volume 18, Numbers 7-14, 1901), a HBC census record of the Saskatchewan District (1872), a HBC census record from the Athabasca District (1873), and a small ledger book used in Dunvegan with several pages at the end used by a child to practice letters and drawing (1891-1925). Attached to the census of the Athabasca District is also a document noting the “division of the Chipewyan Nation” according to the Census taken.

The four photographs are of a dinner fundraising event attended by Elmer Roland “Rollie” Miles (1927-1995). "Rollie" was a member of the Edmonton Eskimos (now Edmonton Elks) from 1951-1961. Two of these photographs include candid photos of Miles. This event was attended by Paul Crough and one of Crough’s brothers, and the photographs were kept by Crough as he was a fan of Miles.
