The fonds consists of a lease for land at Waterways, Alberta, from the Northern Alberta Railways Company to John Richardson Fairbairn, signed over to Lawrence Tolen, and images relating to the fishing operations of McInnes Products Corporation, Limited in Waterways, Alberta, originally dating circa (ca.) 1930s and 1940s, and includes images of rivers, barges, lakes, fishing boats, docks, cargo, ferries, log buildings, an airplane crash, logs and logging, and a dining hall.

The fonds consists of images taken by Robert F. Legget during his travels in Western Canada in 1940, likely while researching the Mackenzie River System, and includes images along the Athabasca and Slave Rivers, images in and around Waterways as well as Fort Smith, images of rivers, bridges, barges, boats, the Northland Echo, freight, Hudson’s Bay Company stores and images from Banff including buildings, the hot springs, and train tracks.

The fonds consists of a photo album created by Kvarnberg that documents his time working on the Canol Project. The photos depict transportation of supplies via portage, riverboat, and Caterpillar trains through the bush of northern Alberta and the North West Territories. There are also photos of camps and towns along the supply route, including Fort McMurray, Waterways, Norman Wells, Fitzgerald, Fort Smith and others. There are also images of pipeline and supply depots as well as U.S. soldiers and Indigenous people supporting the Canol Project.

There is also one photograph of the 1935-1936 Luscar Hockey Club. Kvarnberg’s connection to this team is unclear, as he was not listed on the photograph as a team member.

The textual records consist of a brief, hand-written explanation of the photos written by Kvarnberg and three articles about the history of the Canol Project from Arctic Journal, Alberta Oil magazine, and the Hougen family history website.

The fonds consists of mining-related records of Raymond Martin and includes a diary of his journey from Waterways to Great Bear Lake and transcript of the diary, photograph albums with images taken by Raymond Martin of his journey to Great Bear Lake as well as images relating to the people at and operations of Eldorado Mine on Labine Point, a notebook with map sketches of mining claims at Hottah Lake, Northwest Territories, and maps indicating his route traveled from Waterways to Great Bear Lake. The fonds also includes a Mines Branch report, brochures about Great Bear Lake, Jasper and Edmonton, an issue of The Saint Paul Letter and "The Facettes of Burtonsville and Brightbank, Alberta and their descendents" complied by Ray Martin.

The fonds consists of records related to John Callaghan's involvement in Alberta railways and includes minimal correspondence, a biographical pamphlet, and images of John Callaghan, trains (including Northern Alberta Railways and others), employees, horse and wagons, bridges, washed out tracks at Slave Lake, flooding at Waterways, Grande Prairie main street (1914), Premier Greenfield, Minister V.W. Smith and others examining oil sands along the Athabasca River, and postcards with images of last spike, the Lethbridge viaduct and a Fort McMurray souvenir.

The fonds primarily consists of 24 oil paintings, painted from memory and photographs by Viola Martin specifically for the Provincial Archives of Alberta and donated to the Archives as the Burton Memorial Collection; the paintings are of various homes and scenes at Burtonsville, Waterways and Alberta Beach from the lives of Vi’s parents, Cornelius and Louise Burton.
