Beyond family members and friends, subjects include the town of Alcomdale, homesteads and farming, family businesses, and Great Western Garment (G.W.G.) employees in Edmonton during the Second World War.

It also includes 3 LP recordings from the 1940’s, featuring the songs “The Gun Cowboy”, “I’m Gonna Ride to Heaven on a Steamline Train”, “I Wish I had Never Seen Sunshine”, “You’ll Always Be Mine in My Dreams”, “A Cowboy’s Best Friend is his Pony”, and “The Hobo’s Blues.”

The collection consists of 9.5mm safety film reels that were produced by Pathé from the 1920s to 1960 for the home market. Pathé produced both 9.5mm negative stock for amateur cinematography and copies of films and short subjects on 9.5mm stock for home viewing. These films are an example of the latter and include travelogues, Mickey Mouse and Popeye shorts, and short comedies.

The fonds consists of administrative records of various sections of the Communist Party – Alberta from the 1960s through the early 1990s with some pamphlets and booklets dating back to approximately the 1930s. These include minutes, correspondence, and reports created by the Provincial Executive Committee, the Central Executive Committee, and several committees such as the Edmonton committee and committees for specific electoral wards within Edmonton. There are also briefings and reports prepared for both provincial and federal party conventions.

In addition to Party administration, there is a significant amount of material related to movements and organizations that shared commonalities with the Communist Party, including peace/disarmament organizations, anti-racist organizations, labour unions, and progressive women’s organizations. Many of these records were collected or created by Naomi Rankin, the current leader of the Communist Party – Alberta.

Last, there is a large collection of magazines, journals, and books related to Communism and leftist movements in Canada and abroad.

The fonds consists of alphabetical office files consisting of correspondence, briefings, articles, surveys, questionnaires, reports, agendas, transcripts, circulars, letters of congratulation, speeches, notes, and bills. The fonds also includes material relating to the personal life of Roy Farran dating from the 1940s to the 1970s including correspondence, scrapbooks, farm accounts, financial correspondence, photographs, a draft of an autobiography, drafts of non-fiction stories and articles related to his military service, and clippings documenting his political and military career.

The fonds consists of complete and incomplete films, along with film elements, regarding a variety of promotional, documentary and educational films created by Tustian Film Productions. The fonds also includes textual records, specifically production files and information about and photographs of Jim Tustian. The film and video material in PR2012.0888 consists of promotional material for Northwest Industries, Paragon Panel Systems, the Canadian Hereford Organization (entitled Beef for the World), and Belvedere Developments; commercials for Calgary-based automotive business National Transmission; concert footage of singer Bobby Curtola; a promotional video for Quickdial, a hotel service designed to help raise funds for arts in Alberta; an ergonomic video entitled Top to Toe – Workstation Workout; and political material focusing on former Speaker of the Legislature Ken Kowalski (Kowalski Tributes and God’s Country), the presentation of a new mace by Lieutenant Governor Bud Olsen, and a Social Credit film featuring former premier Harry Strom (Alberta Together!). The material consists of complete masters when available or the original camera tapes when edited masters were not provided.

The records in PR2015.0782 consist of production files for several of the productions that are represented in the audiovisual records in this donation. The files include shooting scripts, correspondence, and budgets.

The audiovisual records are masters of film, television, and radio productions produced by Tustian Film Productions including industrial films for Northwest Industries, Paragon Panel, and Initial Security; municipal and provincial government productions for agencies including the City of Lethbridge, Alberta Agriculture, and Travel Alberta; commercials for companies such as Kodak, Alberta Treasury Branch, car dealerships, and restaurants; and documentary projects on the Edmonton Polar Ski Club and former Speaker of the Assembly Ken Kowalski.

The photographs and negatives were taken by Jim Tustian and include imagery of events and sites around the province. The subject matter is similar to the related fonds Thunderbird Photographers but it is unclear if these photographs were created under that company or as part of Tustian Film Productions, considering both were at one time owned and operated by Jim Tustian.

Récit du Nord-Ouest canadien", by Alex Michelet, and four b&w photographs taken on the trail to La Calmette and at the family farm in Alberta. The novel depicts the life of a young teacher who establishes herself in a small community at Grande Coulée (today, Big Coulee) at the beginning of the Twentieth century and the life of French homesteaders in Alberta.

Fonds consists mainly of records from Déray ancestors who lived in Viéthorey and Gondenans sous Montby, canton of Rougemont, arrondissement of Baume, Department of Doubs, France and includes land agreements, notices and citations, birth certificates, receipts, insurance policies, and correspondence.

Collection consists of two historical maps, from the years 1795 and 1902. The first of these maps is a map of North America, and shows Indigenous nations known at the time, English territories, and Mackenzie’s route to the Pacific.

The other map is of what would become Alberta, and Assiniboia, Athabasca, and Saskatchewan. On the reverse there is a map of Toronto and a legend for the Alberta, Assiniboia, Athabasca, and Saskatchewan map. This map represents the area in 1902, and was copied from an Atlas.

The fonds documents the life and activities of the Geddes family and consists of photographs, publications, clippings, certificates, sound recordings, maps, plans, correspondence, and cards. In particular, the fonds documents Malcolm Geddes activities with the Alpine Club of Canada from 1917 to 1927; Tony Oke's career with CN during the early part of the 20th century; and Alvin Geddes engineering career and his business venture, Geddes Engineering Ltd, during the 1960s to the 1980s.

The fonds also includes poetry and writings by Malcolm Geddes, vital statistic records, family histories and genealogical information written and collected by members of the Geddes Family dating from the 1910s to the 1990s, and an audiocassette capturing an oral history interview with Alvin Geddes completed for the Petroleum Industry Oral History Project at the Glenbow Archives.

The fonds consists of records related to several generations of the Waite-Nobes families and the management of the Waite homestead and weather station from the early 20th century to the near-present.

The collection consists of four historical maps of North America and one negative copy of a map originally from 1867. The three maps that are dated are from 1815, 1824, and 1867.

The fourth map of North America is glued to a cardboard backboard and is not dated, but was likely first created in the year 1770. It includes mythological descriptions of areas not fully explored, including Hyperborea in the Arctic Circle. This last map also includes parts of northern Europe and Russia.

The fonds is composed of photographs, scrapbooks, sheet music, books, correspondence, press clippings, financial records created by the organization or related to its activities in Trochu and Vegreville, as well as meditations and memories manuscripts, sisters’ biographies, press clippings and other records kept by the Sisters of Charity. Also included are commemorative books on 90 years since the foundation of Trochu, Alberta and on Armand Trochu.

Some examples of the areas depicted on larger-scale maps include Alberta communities of Paradise Valley, Grizzly Bear Creek, Lloyminster, Delacour, Trochu, Cluny, Bearspaw, Lac La Biche, Kananaskis Lake, Weberville, Grande Prairie, Brazeau Lake, Edmonton, Red Deer, and Wainwright.

The maps come from a variety of original sources and served a wide range of original purposes. Most were created by the federal National Topographic Survey, many more are general topographical maps, and some were produced for the National Atlas of Canada, among other purposes.

The fonds consists of Brown family records and includes a West Edmonton Liberal Organization brochure for liberal agents or scrutineers, a souvenir program from Canada’s Diamond Jubilee, death notices from Dumbarton, membership tickets for Wesleyan Methodist Church, Reg Rault’s autograph book and other miscellaneous items of family members, a family tree for the Smollett family of Bonhill, Watt genealogical information, a land agreement, postcards of William Jr. during First World War, a postcard of a Spokane bridge, photographs of various members of the Brown family, mountains, trains, bridges, the engineers, contractors and workers of Brown Construction Company during construction of a university covered rink and a photograph album containing photographs of construction projects near Castor, Alberta.

The series consists of records relating to mineral land sales, grants, and leases, including records relating to coal. The series also includes the minutes, agendas and schedules of the Crown Mineral Disposition Review Committee and the Mineral Sales Referral Committee.

The fonds consists of records relating to the life and career of Senator Stan Waters and his family, including correspondence, newspaper and magazine clippings, military memorabilia and documents, photographs, brochures, Reform Party documents, and personal notes and documents.

The collection contains a variety of materials, purchased from Academic Books in five purchases over a decade. The collection includes an unpublished manuscript (1908) written by Alexander MacKenzie on the Peace River District covering the years 1793-1908. The next is a typed letter from R.B. Bennet to John Stocks (1905), the then-Deputy Commissioner of Public Works of the North-West Territories (which included present-day Alberta and Saskatchewan at the time). This letter concerned the rising waters that were beginning to circumvent the Elbow River Bridge in Calgary.

Other records include North-West Territories Gazettes (Volume 18, Numbers 7-14, 1901), a HBC census record of the Saskatchewan District (1872), a HBC census record from the Athabasca District (1873), and a small ledger book used in Dunvegan with several pages at the end used by a child to practice letters and drawing (1891-1925). Attached to the census of the Athabasca District is also a document noting the “division of the Chipewyan Nation” according to the Census taken.

The series consists of original township plans or surveys, subdivision plans, survey diagrams, township registers, and related maps and settlement plans.

Official Township survey plans are the result of official surveys conducted as early as January 1873 and still occur today. In 1871, the first of 3 Dominion Land surveys in the prairie provinces began west of the first meridian in Manitoba, followed by surveys in 1880 and 1881. The surveyors worked on the principles of astronomy and divided the province of Alberta into a grid system composed of ranges, townships, and meridians. Ranges number approximately 1-30 running East to West from each of the three meridians, the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth while the townships (1-127) run from North to South from the International Boundary to the Northwest Territories. These plans became official if they were approved and confirmed by the Surveyor General or after 1930 by the Director of Surveys. For each township, it is possible to have numerous editions. It was the policy of the Office of the Surveyor General to create a new edition every time additional survey work was done, corrections made or updates to standard changes adopted. The scale on the maps is described in terms of chains, where 100 links = 1 chain, 1 chain = 66 feet.

Copies of these township plans were then used as a visual indexing tool for creation of homestead leases, dispositions, and other uses of the land. It allowed a government to draw the area of land and identity of the entity who leases, purchases, or otherwise makes use of the land. These were often part of large ledgers or registers that became part of this series.

Fonds consists of personal records pertaining to the Haselwood family and records reflecting their interests. Fonds has been divided into the following series: Kate Haselwood papers; Alfred W. Haselwood papers; Family papers.

Collection consists of a copied map of the North-West Territory, now Alberta, dating 1874, copied bills and a land agreement belonging to W.F. Smith of Athabasca Landing dating 1897-1907, a pamphlet entitled The Aberhart Plan dating 1935, and a 50th Anniversary issue of The Landing Trail Post newspaper dating 1961.

It consists of chronicles (1891-1984), minutes (1910-1970), financial records (1922-1960), programs of special events (1894-1963), inventories (1894-1963), list of communions and confirmations (1892-1966), correspondence and administrative papers (1874-1985), bulletins (1950-1970), photos and transparencies (1900-1985).

The fonds consists of records created and/or collected by members of the Scott, Bisset, and McPherson families as well as related branches. The records include correspondence, diaries, clerical documents, family photographs, cookbooks, professional writings, and genealogical information. The records relate to such subjects as the domestic and professional lives of women across the 20th century; Albertan legal history; Albertan religious life and history; the evolution of public morality from the late 19th to the 21st centuries; the evolution of etiquette, entertainment, and home economics in the same period; and military records related to both the First and Second World Wars, including Canadian involvement in the armed forces and life on the home-front.

Fonds consists of newspaper clippings, invitations, postcards, and photographs that deal with scenes and personalities, such as H.C. Wilson and Alexander Taylor, of early Edmonton and area.

The fonds consists of a French-Cree dictionary and four photographs. The French dictionary to the Cree language was published in 1874, and was written by Albert Lacombe.

The four photographs are of a dinner fundraising event attended by Elmer Roland “Rollie” Miles (1927-1995). "Rollie" was a member of the Edmonton Eskimos (now Edmonton Elks) from 1951-1961. Two of these photographs include candid photos of Miles. This event was attended by Paul Crough and one of Crough’s brothers, and the photographs were kept by Crough as he was a fan of Miles.

The fonds consists of baptismal, confirmation and marriage certificate for various members of the Manz and Hennig families. The fonds also includes the naturalization certificate and certificate of homestead patent for Jacob Hennig.

Fonds consists of two scrapbooks with letters, clippings and photographs related to Pollard's family and travels, tour brochures and lists of photographs taken on foreign journeys, an essay on the Cardston Temple and magazines with Pollard's photographs. Fonds also consists of a photographic supply catalogue, a large number of photographs taken or collected by Pollard, cinefilms created by Pollard, two order books, lantern slides, correspondence, magazines and brochures.

The fonds consists of a photograph of the first General Assembly (1875) and specimen diplomas for catechism and scripture ([ca. 1875-1925]).

The fonds consists of materials pertaining to the Gauthier family including birth announcements, farming supply receipts, correspondence, farming publications, court records regarding a land dispute, tax assessments, and invoices for medical treatments dating from 1875 to 1952.

The fonds consists of the family records of the Morrison family and includes an official copy of the birth certificate of Edward Whitney, the marriage certificates of Edward Whitney and Violetta Wood and Frederick Morrison and Mabel Whitney, creative writing by Mabel, pages from Mabel’s notebook, a handout from Mabel Morrison’s memorial service, family histories, obituaries, correspondence to various family members, and photographs of the family members, camping at Medicine Lake, family residences in Vegreville and Edmonton and a “Vote Morrison” sign hung from a car.

Collection consists of two colour maps showing part of Manitoba and what was then North West Territories. The first of these depicts the region in the year 1875 and bears the following title, “Tracts of country ceded by the Indian Treaties 1-4.” The second map has the title, “Map of Manitoba and North-West Territory,” and depicts Saskatchewan, Alberta, and the surrounding region in the year 1905.

The collection consists of a map of part of Keewatin showing Dominion Land Surveys, a map of Railroads and Counties for the Dominion of Canada, and issues of Social Credit periodicals including Today and Tomorrow, “Mr. Speaker” (published by New Democracy members of Parliament), “The Prophetic Voice” (Calgary Prophetic Bible Institute) and the Canadian Social Creditor.

The fonds consists of negatives, photographs, maps, audiocassettes and textual records regarding Wainwright and area, collected by Herb Snyder and used for the Wainwright local history book Buffalo Trails and Tails. The fonds also consists of photographs, negatives, and textual records of the Snyder family who were one of the pioneer and founding families of Wainwright. This material represents a time span of three generations of the family.

The fonds consists of commemoratory certificates, financial records, personal correspondence, and records related to McDonnell's transactions with the Scottish Immigrant Aid Society from 1879 to 1935. The documents also describe key moments in what appears to be the bankruptcy of Edward McDonnell's farm near Clandonald Alberta.
