The fonds consists of records related to ALHI’s mandate to collect and preserve oral histories from Albertan workers. Each video and audio cassette contains an oral history and is identified by date, participant, and subject matter. There are multiple copies on different media of most of the oral history recordings, with digital copies backed up on the 4 hard disk drives. The textual records consist of signed release forms completed by the participants, which stipulate that the recordings may be disseminated for research purposes and made publically available.

As a whole, there are dozens of different oral histories on a variety of labour-related topics including union activism (with a host of unions represented), the experiences of women in the work force, the experiences of visible minorities in the work force, and significant events such as strikes, lock-outs, organizing campaigns, and the daily lives of Albertan workers.

The fonds consists mainly of administrative records created by the Canadian Federation of University Women, Edmonton. However, the local, provincial, national, and international levels of the organization are all represented in the fonds. Most of the records in the fonds have been arranged into four series: Canadian Federation of University Women, Edmonton; Canadian Federation of University Women, Alberta Council; Canadian Federation of University Women, National; and International Federation of University Women. This arrangement is based on the record keeping practice of the Edmonton organization.

The fonds is comprised of records of the Canadian Federation of University Women and its members. Records from several committees and sub-groups, such as the Academic Awards Fund Committee and the Environment Group are included in separate sub-series. Records from the Edmonton organization include annual returns, bank statements, reports, calendars, board duty descriptions, bylaw committee reports, presentation records, and a scrapbook with collected stories, obituaries, member profiles, photographs, and assorted newsprint clippings.

Some other records in the fonds represent those which were collected by donors in the process of collecting CFUW records. These include the two CD-Rs, which are labeled as containing a “State of Natural Areas Edmonton Report” and the “2012 donation slip.” This also includes one of the VHS tapes, labeled as a “Big Lake Discovery Centre Promo Video.”

The material covers Mrs. Casselman' s activities as a Member of Parliament, particularly on the topics of the War and Social Legislation.

Her activities as a delegate to the 1944 International Labour Organization Convention in Philadelphia are poorly documented, but material relating to her activities as a delegate to the San Francisco United Nations Organization Conference in 1945 is well documented. In the post-political years, Mrs. Casselman's interest in the Federal District Commission, in International Affairs and the Status of Women is well documented. Most newspaper clippings are undated.
