The office of the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Land and Forest Service was formed in 1992. In January of 1993, the transfer order was filed which transferred the program areas from Forestry, Lands and Wildlife to the new Department. The Land and Forest Service was responsible for the proper use, management, allocation, and protection of Alberta’s public lands. It continued within Environmental Protection until 1999.

The series relates to Integrated Resource Planning, which is the effective management and utilization of natural resources and public lands that belong to the Crown. The series includes general information; regional, sub-regional, and local level plans; and reviews of plans and strategies. The records include correspondence, policies relating to the planning process and implementation of integrated resource planning, strategies, Regional Integrated Decisions (RID), and related documents.
