          Fraser family fonds

          Fonds consists of business and personal records of the Fraser family including financial records, correspondence, photographs, photograph albums, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, postcards, books and a map. The fonds has been divided into the following series: Henry Fraser records; Robert Fraser records; and Tommy Fraser records.

          The records include correspondence and study reports relevant to scrip and the broader Department of Indian Affairs. Scrapbooks compiled by Emilie Fraser contain multiple images from the Treaty 7 commemorations in 1977 and the royal visit.

          The fonds consists of photographs most likely primarily from the Macleod area of Alberta and includes images of First Nations men, women and children, teepees, horses, Royal North West Mounted Police, barracks, parades, as well as an image of Edmonton’s Main Street in 1907.

          The collection consists of a variety of copied images including photographs featuring maps of the areas of Fort Garry, Fort Ellice, Fort Pitt, Fort Edmonton, the Yellowhead Pass, the North Saskatchewan River, and Fort McMurray dating from the 1880s; photographic copies of certificates and correspondence related to Col. Francis Mewburn dating from 1776 to 1880; photographs of the Lethbridge area featuring images of railways, dwellings, minters, engines, businesses such as H. Bentley and Co., T. Botterill Hardware, and members of the Blood Nation dating from the 1880s; photographs of Medicine Hat featuring a hospital and the Lady Aberdeen's Women's Hospital dating from 1894; images of Saskatchewan including a carbonizing and briguetting plant; photographs of the University of Alberta and the Edmonton area including images of campus residences, the Royal Alexandra Hospital, the University Hospital, classes of students, St. Joseph's College, CKUA Radio Station, farm buildings, the Oliver Institute, and First Nations dating from the 1920s.

          Fonds consists of records pertaining to Robert and Kenneth Torrance’s activities in various organizations and records reflecting their interests including correspondence, journals, resolutions, handbooks, newsletters, annual reports, programs, photographs, newspaper clippings and a map. The fonds has been divided into two series: Robert Torrance records; and Kenneth Torrance records. There are also sub-series within the Robert Torrance records series.

          The fonds consists of records pertaining to Secord’s family and personal life, as well as records reflecting his interests and involvement with various organizations. These records include biographies of Richard, Annie York and Richard York Secord, a Secord family history, a copy of the dedication of Richard Secord Elementary School by Edith Rogers, newspaper clippings, Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada proposals and correspondence, scrip accounts, a coaster from McDougall & Secord, Limited, correspondence regarding the Centennial Student Exchange Program and a map showing the development of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Canada. The fonds also includes photographs of the Secord house, a coal arch, the John York family, various family members, automobiles, hunting, rivers, and mounted prints of the McDougall & Secord, Limited 1905 storefront and a painting of the Secord home.

          Fonds consists of the personal records of F. Morris Flewwelling and includes programmes from various orchestral and theatrical productions performed in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, and includes the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra's newsletter, Encore, and the Calgary Philharmonic Society's newsletter, Bravura. Fonds also includes souvenir pamphlets from Alix and Banff, Alberta, a copied newspaper clipping about singer Elena Nikolaidi, various Alberta Department of Education departmental examinations, Province of Alberta Centennial Bulletins, negatives depicting an orchestra, children, musicians and musical instruments, and copied photographs dating 1916 that depict the Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta, including a parade, various events, and First Nations people, including Blackfoot Chief Yellow Horse.

Fonds also includes a photograph and obituary for Major Leon Charles Eckenfelder, a memorial article about Vernor W. Smith, and books of poetry written by W.V. Newson.
