    Biographical history

    Delphin and Maria (Trusdale) Morin, originally from Quebec, came to Alberta, with Delphin arriving and settling in Morinville, in 1891, and Maria and two children, Firmin and Delvina, arriving the following year.

    Firmin married Lilly Beaudry on July 19, 1901, and their first child, Irma, was born May 8, 1902. On November 26, 1919, Irma married Louis Lefebvre (1896-1934). They initially moved to Innisfree, Alberta, but soon returned to Morinville. They had four children: Rolland, was born November 20, 1920; Andrew, Leonard and Paul.

    Irma, a widow from August 24, 1934, married Wilfred Girard (1903-1963) on May 29, 1943. Rolland Firmin Lefebvre married Florence Pitre in 1941.

    Irma died in 1978.

    The fonds includes an image of a painting (circa 1900) of Delphin and Maria Morin, and a photocopy of a biographical sketch about their son Firmin Morin and his family, written by Irma Girard.

    Immediate source of acquisition

    Florence Lefebvre, daughter-in-law of Irma Girard, allowed the records to be copied by the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1981. The originals were returned to her.
