    Biographical history

    James Rajotte was born and raised in Edmonton in 1970. He received a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta. Prior to entering politics he was an executive assistant and researcher. He is also a volunteer skating instructor and hockey coach and has interests in literature and classical music.

    James Rajotte was first elected to the House of Commons in 2000 as the Member of Parliament for Edmonton-Southwest, and was re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Edmonton-Leduc in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011. He is the chair of the standing committee on Finance and was previously the chair of the standing committee on Industry, Science and Technology.

    Custodial history

    The records were donated to the Royal Alberta Museum by Bud Squair, Rajotte's election campaign manager. The museum accepted part of that donation and transferred the textual records to the PAA.

    Scope and content

    The fonds consists of information regarding James Rajotte’s campaigns for federal office from 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011. This material includes correspondence, invitations to events, statistics, and audits regarding Mr. Rajotte’s political campaigns. The material also includes information on how these local campaigns relate to the larger policies of the Canadian Alliance Party and the Conservative Party of Canada.
