    Biographical history

    John Grey Dixon was born at Horn Hill, Alberta on April 10, 1903 to Robert Dixon Senior (Sr.) and Emily E. Dixon (nee Harding). He attended school at Horn Hill and then helped his father on the family farm for several years.

    He later purchased his own farm at Section 21, Township 36, Range 27, West of the 4th Meridian (21-36-27-W4) located near Penhold, Alberta where he remained until his death on September 24, 1975

    Scope and content

    Fonds consists of ration coupons, financial records, correspondence, receipts, tax notices, theatre and church service programmes, agreements, auction posters and a commercial road map of British Columbia. Fonds also includes various publications including the Central Alberta Farm and Ranch Directory, a Red Deer and district telephone directory, and an issue of Reddy Reader.

    Immediate source of acquisition

    Mr. Ninian Lockerby deposited these records in the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1977. Mr. Lockerby purchased the house previously owned by Mr. John Grey Dixon in which the records were abandoned after Mr. Dixon's death.
