    Biographical history

    Born in 1897, John Norman Morris served in the First World War in the 49th Battalion and was a member of the Great War Veterans Association of Canada in Edmonton, Alberta during the 1920s. He was wounded in 1914 and, upon his return to Canada, farmed near Rabbit Hill until his retirement in 1956.

    He married Gladys Barker (1903-1996) , and together they had six children. He died in Edmonton in 1966.

    Fonds consists of records pertaining to Morris’ service in World War I and his membership in the Great War Veterans Association of Canada, as well as a photograph that is assumed to be of his father and uncle.

    Mrs. John Morris deposited the records in this fonds at the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1966.
