          The series consists of records created by the Office of the Clerk for courts in Calgary. The records include clerk’s oaths of office (1887-1889); fee books, cash books, suitor’s account ledgers, receipt books and other accounting records (1885-1970); index ledgers for writs issued by the courts; postage accounts (1915-1948); specimen appeal books and transcripts of various trials and depositions (1922-1943), staff attendance ledger (1915-1919); and ledgers pertaining to the transfers and receipts of case files and court exhibits.

          The series consists ledgers, documents and artifacts submitted to the Clerk of the Court in Calgary as evidence in court cases but which were subsequently separated from their original case files. The series comprises account books from unidentified businesses as well as those of Jesse Stewart, the Canmore Coal Company, the Merchants Bank of Canada, Globe Savings and Loan, the Alexander Hotel, as well as the estate of M.G. McLean. The series also includes correspondence, lists, account books, cheques, stock certificates, agreements, racing tickets, drivers licenses, photographs, receipts, promissory notes, prescription forms, counterfeit currency, dice, and a deck of cards.

It comprises chattel mortgage documents (1883-1914) and their ledgers (1883-1967); lien registers (1903-1967); seed grain liens (1910-1939); Creditor’s Relief Act ledgers (1911-1952); partnership ledger (1885-1893); hire receipt ledger (1917-1918); garagemen’s lien registers (1937-1938); Debt Adjustment Act records (1924-1938); Assignment of Book Debt Act registers (1927-1967); and Farmers’ Creditors Arrangement Act registers (1934-1946).
