Biographical history
Juliette Marie-Josèphe Richard was born on December 21, 1931 in Lac La Biche, Alberta, to Médard and Anita (Durocher) Richard. She spent her early years on the family farm near Normandeau, Alberta. At a young age, she spent several years in a Calgary hospital, suffering from polio.
She graduated from the Académie Assomption, an Edmonton high school, and enrolled in University of Alberta's Faculty of Education in 1951. One year later she began a teaching career in Alberta's bilingual schools that lasted 35 years. Juliette retired in 1987 in Edmonton.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of images from Lac La Biche, originally dating from approximately 1915 to the 1940s, including the Mission Convent, students, sisters, priests, children, local residents, houses, hotels, stores, churches, streets, a baseball game, furs, ice cutting, animals, sleighs, automobiles, fishing boats, tractors and the lake itself. The fonds also includes a bilingual genealogy that documents the Durocher family’s 100 years in Alberta (1906-2006).

Immediate source of acquisition
Juliette Richard allowed the images to be copied by the Provincial Archives of Alberta in 1988. The originals were returned to her. She donated the textual records in 2013.
