    Biographical history

    Margaret D. Mayer was born in 1911 to Emma Gertrude Mayer (1888-1971) and Robert I. Mayer (1881-1937), first postmaster at Mayerthorpe, Alberta.

    She married Karel Tettelaar (1904-1990) in Edmonton in 1938, and together they had one child, Karel Jr. After spending most of her life in Edmonton, the Kettelaars moved to British Columbia in 1971, living in Anglemont, British Columbia by 1977.

    She died in Salmon Arm, British Columbia in 1984.

    Scope and content

    Fonds consists of oral history given by Emma Gertrude Mayer dating 1977, and copied photographs and postcards dating 1908-1914 depicting members of the Mayer family, a sod house, buildings, railroad survey crew, the first opera at Wainwirght, Alberta, and views, buildings, hotels, and hospitals in Wainwirght, Strathmore, Athabasca, Lac La Biche, Jasper and Mayerthorpe, Alberta.
