    Biographical history

    Norman Dolman was born in Wandsworth, London, England in 1926. He married Doreen Witton in Surrey, England in 1946. He later emigrated to Canada.

    He worked as an optometrist in Edmonton and St. Albert. After serving on the executive of the Alberta New Democratic Party, he ran for the Alberta New Democratic Party in the 1967 Alberta provincial election but was unsuccessful. In 1968, he ran in the Canadian federal election in the Edmonton Centre electoral district for the federal New Democratic Party, ending up in third place. Later that year, he sought the party leadership for the provincial New Democratic Party but withdrew his name.

    He played string bass in the Edmonton Symphony and was a member of the local chapter of MENSA.

    The fonds consists of material pertaining to Norman Dolman's candidacy for the constituency of Edmonton Centre in 1968 and includes posters advertising Norman Dolman's candidacy, Norman Dolman's business card, a copy of New Democrat Election Special Vol. 7, No.9, and a copy of The Alberta Democrat Vol.1., No. 11.
