The Provincial Archives of Alberta Subject Headings (PAASH) was initially developed in 1982 by staff at the Provincial Archives of Alberta (PAA) in order to provide a standard, controlled vocabulary to be used in descriptions for archival records. PAASH was revised several times afterward but the most recent changes were made in 2005. Since then, changes in archival practices necessitated a substantial revision that resulted in the 2020 version of PAASH that is now in use by the PAA in AtoM and the Archives Society of Alberta database, Alberta on Record.
